Dear Students now we will be having sessions to make use of idioms to improve our writing skills.

Please note down the following and try to learn them.

A bird’s eye view- a view from a very high place which allows you to see a large area

A bone of contention- something that people argue for a long time
 
At the crack of the dawn- very early in morning
 
A litmus test- a method which clearly proves something

Write a letter to the Municipal Commissioner on the terrible condition of roads and drains in your area.

Respected Sir,

                The residents of Bakhtawar Peth are facing serious problems due to overflowing and awfully stinking drains near our building, which have not been cleared for more than a month. Monsoon has just arrived and the pothole on the road with dirty water collected in it makes travelling a big task. There are many accidents and traffic at its peak. Residents walk through the area with their nose covered. The uncleared drains, besides causing a nuisance, poses a serious health hazard to the people of this area.

                I request you to take prompt action and to see to it that the drains are cleared immediately and roads are constructed as soon as possible. The residents of the locality did not complain to you earlier as they expected your department to realize its basic civic obligations, and wake up to its duty we hope you take the necessary steps without any further delay.
